The Lost Delta was a region of India believed to have been flooded two thousand years before Indiana Jones' 1935 discovery of the Temple of the Forbidden Eye buried there by the water. Jones and his friend Sallah Mohammed Faisel el-Kahir set up an encampment to excavate the site but media attention on the find soon enticed thousands of tourists—including movie star Norah West—eager to get ahold of the rewards that were held within, despite the story that the gifts were actually bait by the god Mara to lure men to their doom.
