Kevin Joseph Sweeney (born November 16, 1963 in Bozeman, Montana) is a former professional American football player who was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 7th round of the 1987 NFL Draft. A 6'0" quarterback from Fresno State, Sweeney played two years for the Cowboys from 1987 to 1988. He was the third ever rookie quarterback to start for the Cowboys in 1987, behind Don Meredith (1960) and Roger Staubach (1969). He had the distinction of following coach Jeff Tedford as QB at Fresno State and finished his career with the still standing team record for passing yards in a career.
