Rulke, derogatorily known as the Great Betrayer, was widely considered to be the greatest of all the Charon and the most powerful mancer in all the Histories. He was one of three Charon to venture to Santhenar in the hunt for the Golden Flute, which he had commissioned by Shuthdar in the first place. It was Rulke who originally discovered the secret of flight, through his great construct, which was also a means of repelling attacks by the Secret Art and navigating the ever changing Way Between the Worlds. He was killed by Tensor at the end of the Time of the Mirror.

| - Rulke, derogatorily known as the Great Betrayer, was widely considered to be the greatest of all the Charon and the most powerful mancer in all the Histories. He was one of three Charon to venture to Santhenar in the hunt for the Golden Flute, which he had commissioned by Shuthdar in the first place. Though he died before their birth, Rulke's union with Maigraith, resulted in the birth of twins; Illiel and Rulken. Through Illiel he became the grandfather of Liel and through Rulken he became the grandfather to Gilhaelith. He also secretly mated with his enemy Yalkara, while in the Nightland, resulting in a son he never knew about; Emberr. It was Rulke who originally discovered the secret of flight, through his great construct, which was also a means of repelling attacks by the Secret Art and navigating the ever changing Way Between the Worlds. He was killed by Tensor at the end of the Time of the Mirror.
