| - The datajack, more formally known as the Infomatrix Access Neural Link, is what makes a direct connection to the Infomatrix possible. Invented in 3570 on Sivad to work with the newest iteration of computer networking technology at the time, it has, like the Infomatrix itself, lasted to the modern day. The Datajack is also able to do anything a Appliance_Control_Utility can, due to their similar technology.
- The datajack was invented in the 2491 by a Sivadian by the name of Dylan Phelps to allow hackers and other computer elite to quickly and efficiently interface the humanoid brain with 95% of computer technology, allowing the user to 'jack' themselves into systems via a simple computer cord and run commands using only thoughts. It wasn't until 2512 that the datajack was available to Shohobian races, and in 2526, limited download capability was introduced.
- Datajacks are cybertechnology implants that allow metahumans to directly access computers and information with their mind. They typically resemble a coin-sized dataport that is implanted either on the side of the head (typically in the temporal region of the skull, behind the ear or on the temple) or the back of the neck (just below the brainstem), although a datajack can be placed anywhere in the body. Datajacks are the most common cybertechnology enhancement and are essential for rigging and decking. Despite superficial similarities, a datajack should not be confused with a chipjack.

Variations on the basic datajack design include induction datajacks, eye laser datajacks, and wireless datajacks. A Direct Neural Interface or DNI resembles the function of a datajack, but only for internal cyberware devices. Despite superficial similarities, a datajack should not be confused with a chipjack.
Installation of a datajack requires minor surgery, as a wire has to be interfaced with the brain itself. A translation microcomputer is inserted into the user's skull just below the ear region, and a small cluster of wires pass under the bottom of the brainpan, ending in a datajack port. Usually this port is built flush with the user's skin just below the ear, but this can be altered to port out at either the temple or via some part of the ear. It is much less invasive than the later model, the Neurojack. Datajacks are required for the use of several kinds of technology in the modern world, including some kinds of powered armor, See-alls, a handful of fightercraft, and a variety of others.
