Professor Elizabeth Potter, Duchess of Inverness (née Burke; 1621 - 1705), was a pure-blood witch and headmistress of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. She had several portraits hung in the castle. She was the daughter of Acateon Burke and Flavia Malfoy, and later the wife of Andronicus Potter. The two had a son called Zacharias Potter, and soon after his birth Elizabeth became a widow, which led to her becoming regent for her son and all the possessions of the House of Potter.

She held and encouraged pure-blood supremacy, and that would be reflected in not just young Zacharias, but many of her descendants for several generations. As such, she was an ancestor of Harry Potter.
