Dunwiddy was a young hare of unknown gender, and a junior member of the Long Patrol. S/he, Trey, Gilbee, and Dobbs tricked the inexperienced Violet Wildstripe of Salamandastron into putting them on outside patrol one night, something hares of their young age were not allowed to do. While they were sitting about their watch fire, the four young hares were mowed down by the wheeled ship Greenshroud, and shot full of arrows from the vermin crew of the ship to make sure they were well and truly dead. The Long Patrol later found Dunwiddy's body on the shore with the other three, and gave him/her a proper burial.
