Jarry played junior hockey for the Sherbrooke Castors in 1966-67 and the Ottawa 67's in 1967-68 and 1968-69, He was chosen 12th overall by the New York Rangers in the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft. He spent some time in the minor pros first, winning the Central Hockey League scoring title in 1970-71 with the Omaha Knights. Jarry only spent part of one season with the Rangers (1971-72) before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was a useful role player with the Leafs and the Minnesota North Stars and Detroit Red Wings. Jarry scored 88 goals and 117 assists in 344 NHL games played.
