He's a member of Police Squad, a special department of the police force together with Officer Norberg, Captain Ed Hocken, Al and Ted Olsen. It's not exactly clear when he started to work for Police Squad, but it was before 1970. Ever since he married Jane he got retired from the force. He's created by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams and Jerry Zucker, and portrayed by Leslie Nielsen in the series and the films.
