| - Red (Japanese: レッド Red) is the canon name of the player character in the Generation I games Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow and the male choice in their Generation III remakes Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, where his female counterpart is Leaf. Prior to Generation II, he was officially referred to as Satoshi (Japanese: サトシ). Red is known throughout as the Champion from Pallet Town, as well as the living legend for his defeat of Team Rocket in Kanto during his quest. He is the final opponent in the Generation II games Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, their Generation IV remakes Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, and Pokémon Stadium 2. He is a participant in the Pokémon World Tournament's Champions Tournament in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 and works as a boss of the Battle Tree in Pokémon Sun and Moon. In Pokémon Destiny he reappears at the end of the Blanche Saga to assist the player in the final battle against Madame Boss, but he leaves as soon as Madame Blanche has escaped, saying he can't waste any more time here and must continue his journey. In the Horror Saga, the player is connected with the mind of Red, and learns about Red's enormous fear of the mysteries of death. The player constantly gets flashbacks from Red's perspective and has to find a way to help him. At the end of this saga, Red confronts the representation of death (Yveltal) as an attempt to grant all beings on Earth immortality so he can live on without fear, however, the player will notice Arceus and Zygarde will try to obliterate Red, because granting all beings immortality would be an interference with nature. The player is given three final options in this saga 1.
* Fight Red so he won't interfere with nature, as a result, Arceus will spare Red and Yveltal will enlarge Red's life, but not grant him immortality. This will turn Red into an enemy of the player, because he will experience it as betrayal and will blame the player for not letting him defeat Yveltal. 2.
* The player can help Red survive by defeating Yveltal and Zygarde, but Arceus will not be defeated and shall curse both the player and Red with unspeakable horrors, which will continue the Horror Saga until a point where Red and the player shall die and become one with Mew. when this will have happened, they will prepare theirselves to confront Arceus, defeat him, and become the new god of the universe, this a possible way of finishing the game. 3.
* Let Red capture Zygarde and Yveltal, which will anger Arceus but not make him able to curse Red and the player. So he will leave but send legendary Pokémon after Red to defeat him. But Red will have taken over the power of Yveltal and have become immortal, so the saga will go on and Red will look for a way to calm Arceus down.
