| - Jari Pekka Kurri (born May 18, 1960, in Helsinki, Finland) is a retired right winger who played in the National Hockey League and is now member of its Hockey Hall of Fame. He played for the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, Colorado Avalanche and Anaheim Mighty Ducks. A Jokerit Helsinki alumni, Kurri joined the NHL as an Oilers draft pick (69th in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft). He imposed himself as a first class player straight from the beginning, recording 75 points (of these, 32 goals) in his rookie season. He was a brilliant player in Edmonton, where he had six 100 points-plus seasons. He is currently the second all-time scorer in the Oilers' history, behind Wayne Gretzky. His outstanding career was recognized and crowned by an induction to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001, earning him the distinction of being the first ever inducted Finn. His number 17 was retired by the Oilers and by the Finnish National Team. He is still involved in hockey today, being the general manager of the Finnish National Team.
