The Sompek class was a type of heavy destroyer fielded by the Klingon Empire during the 24th century. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 3: Ships of the Klingon Empire) The Sompek consisted of wing pylons that projected sharply forward and down with the nacelles at their ends. The forward shaft contained many of the ship's weapons and widens as it moves aft into the main hull. Just beyond where the main hull begins was a dorsally mounted wedge-shaped structure that contained the bridge. The pylons and forward shaft give the ship a trident shape, which leads to its nickname, "Puvwl'wejej" (the "Flying Trident").
