The Colombian Revolutionary Movement (Span: Movimineto Revolucionario Colombiano), or MRC, is a right-wing populist political party, often associated with the far right of Colombian politics. Founded in 1931 as an anti-communist counterrevolutionary party, it has since drifted to the extreme right of Colombian politics. In 1980, at the height of popular opposition to the Social Party's conduct in the Brazilian War as well as domestic economic policies, the MRC managed to win four seats in the Chamber of Deputies and entered a coalition with the PR and PDC called the Coalition of Conservative Parties. In 1986, it subsequently lost all of its seats to the PR and has since been regarded as a fringe party. The current Party Chairman and perpetual Presidential candidate is Rafael Strauss Modelo
