- Apparently, the button people go crazy and gum up gadgets and computers with an almost unbelievable number of unusable and unattractive buttons! At least, that's how you view it if you live in Tom's and Steve Jobs' weird little button-hating heads. In other news, check out Microsoft, making the Xbox 360 HD DVD player the best deal in town! P.S. Congress? Hands off the Internet. We mean it.
- It's proven! If you carry a small, electronic device on you, you're more likely to get hit by lightning. Now that's a total "shocker"! Hee hee! Also today, we take back our pity from Sprint for dumping customers.
- Well, OK--we were totally in the dark Tuesday during a rolling power outage in San Francisco that took out roughly half the Internet. But did we get to go home early? No! In other news , AllOfMP3's head could be headed for jail, Facebook is headed to court, and Congress is headed to the land of lunacy.
- Is a YouTube video with a talking snowman an unseemly way to go about the democratic process? Apparently it is, per Mr. Romney. He and Rudy Giuliani have "scheduling conflicts" with the Republican version of the CNN-YouTube debate, and Romney says the snowman thing is just too silly. Sorry, guys, democracy is on the Internet now. Get with the times. Hey, you can also download songs to your AT&T cell phones now! Oh, no, sorry, not the iPhone. Didn't mean to get you all excited.
- It turns out Microsoft Windows is a lot like McDonald's hamburgers--over a billion people served, and a surprising number of them feeling slightly ill. Also in the news today, Sprint is hinting at open networks that may turn out to be not-so-open; the digital TV transition is a "digital disaster" in the making; and the button people strike again!
- The race to unlock the iPhone has truly begun, but what we really want is for someone to let us use the T-Mobile SIM card with the iPhone! Yeah, probably not going to happen, but we can dream!
- If Monday night's Democratic presidential debate is any indication, it actually could! There were, like, concise and hard-hitting questions and, um, they came from the Internets. Weird! In other news, Acer's chief trashes Vista hard-core; and universities almost become slaves to the RIAA and MPAA, then win a reprieve at the last second. Phew!
- According to a study, the U.S. isn't as "well-endowed" with broadband as other countries because we're poor and not very bright. Gee, thanks.
- Truly, the best way to convince people to use your service is with an ice-cold 12-pack of beer, right? At least, that's what two competing mobile phone companies in China think. Oh, and it's actually "Unicom," not "unicorn," but that's what you'll be seeing after all that beer.
- What's a more serious threat to national security than BitTorrent? Well, it's either Microsoft or pants, depending on whom you believe . Also, HD DVD takes the low road -- the low price road, that is -- and Google is for sure, for realsies, no foolin' going to start filtering copyrighted content off of YouTube any day now. For serious this time.
- AllofMP3.com has finally closed its doors, but never fear! Another site has magically appeared to fulfill your quasilegal music needs. You don't even need a new log-in name! Now that's convenience.
- Hey, remember the Sony rootkit? Well, Sony's hoping it can soon rebrand it as MediaMax's rootkit. They're suing the company for developing the technology that landed them in so much hot water. Hey, that's what happens when you get in the way of fair use. In other news, the Wii is still playing hard to get and Whole Foods' CEO proves that trolling happens in every pay grade.
- A vicious rumor cropped up on the Internet yesterday, claiming that our very own Veronica Belmont would be leaving CNET and Buzz Out Loud. What!? Ridiculous. Except that it's true. Veronica reports in from E3 in LA today to let you all know where she's going, when she's leaving, and why she's breaking our hearts like this. But we'll be OK. Change is good. Right? RIGHT?

- As state mottos go, it's not the best we've heard, but that's what Nevada gets for not only failing to reset the password for the governor's e-mail account, but posting it on the Internet! How embarrassing. That and a pickle barrel's worth of new iPhone news, including a security flaw that seems to have some actual teeth.
- AT&T has sponsored new research to show that a non-neutral Internet would require twice the bandwidth of a tiered Internet! The horror! Oh, wait. That's totally true. And, one observer says, providing that extra bandwidth would actually cost less than tiering the networks. Weirdly, that last bit of information isn't in the AT&T research. I guess they just missed it. In other news, Google and Yahoo are planning to unite all social networks... er...separately. Sigh.
- We're ragging on the Zune today like it's 2006! But hey, it's always fun to revisit old jokes, at least when it's done so tastefully. Oh, wait.
- Wow! It's my last official episode of Buzz Out Loud ! I hate long good-byes, so just let me say that you're the greatest audience ever, and I'm going to miss the heck out of you. Keep buzzing!
- If I had a little more time here at CNET, I'd do a 'Pancakes vs. waffles' Prizefight. But as it stands, I alone had to defend pancakes against Tom and Molly. The only reason we talked about this today is because the comment period for Net neutrality is over. Darn.
- Microsoft is not having the best week--it's footing a $1 billion bill for extended warranties on the Xbox 360. But at the same time, it fell just short of its shipping goals for the console. Chin up, Microsoft! You could be Sony.
- The future is now, and it's full of tiny robots on wheels packing 50,000 volts. That doesn't sound dangerous or anything! Oh, and more iPhone coverage too, naturally.
