| - Synix Fer'faloon was a male Balosar antiquities dealer who operated in the Core Worlds around and after the Sith-Imperial War. Though he ran several legitimate fronts, his largest profits came from black market artifacts. Born on polluted Balosar in 104 ABY, Synix, like many of his brethren, left the planet to find a better life offworld. He earned a degree in Ancient History, but while on a dig, he was approached by representatives of a potential buyer for the artifacts his team was recovering. Initially offended by the suggestion that he was as much a dreg as the stereotype of all Balosars, Synix was eventually persuaded when the men returned with a much stronger offer. He stole several Old Republic texts from a decimated library and delivered them for a hefty fee. Having found a way to put his knowledge of history to work without suffering through the abysmal pay of a history graduate student or professor, Synix used his initial fee to set himself up in business as a dealer in antiques. He cultivated friendships with both his former classmates and his new underworld contacts, and made acquaintances in the Gree Enclave, Coruscant's academic circles, and the Hutt kajidics. He kept his ears open for information and became a small-time broker, but the majority of his profits always came from buying and reselling artifacts. Later in life, he was occasionally consulted by pawnbrokers and other traders for his expertise. He also made contacts in the underworld, including the Faust information broker Wonga Vurb. During and after the reign of the One Sith, when business became more difficult, Fer'faloon was one of the few beings brave and desperate enough to provide a trade in Force artifacts. He obtained a number of Jedi lightsabers after the Massacre at Ossus and sold them on the black market, and even sold a set of Imperial Knight armor obtained with great difficulty from a Mandalorian contact. Fer'faloon was not Force-sensitive himself, but he appreciated the power of the artifacts with which he dealt—and the beings who might try to forcibly confiscate them if he was not careful. He proposed sales discreetly, and usually only carried them out through intermediaries. In 154 ABY, Synix came into possession of SD41263.I and Darth Chosis's holocron, and used his contacts to arrange an intermediary sale in the Ploughtekal Market on Coruscant. However, despite his caution, the highly prized Sith holocrons drew the attention of a number of people the Balosar was desperate to avoid—among them the New Jedi Order, the Imperial Knights, and, most terrifyingly, the One Sith. The Twi'lek former Jedi Eche Parunam found him first, and though he succeeded in rebuffing her initial advances, she eventually mind tricked him into revealing the location of the holocrons after he was distracted by the death of his middleman, Malleigh Rason, in an apparent bombing. A despondent Synix was shortly after confronted by Rahli, and gave the Besadii agent the location in hopes that he could stop Eche and might pay Synix something, which was by then infinitely preferable to the nothing he stood to make. He was to be disappointed. Coruscant news reported that Rahli and his Dashade bodyguard, Wek Lekatro, had been found dead along with the minor Tapani noble Aimon Bathiriat, and the killers had escaped. At best it meant the Jedi had recovered the holocrons; at worse, they were gone completely. Synix devoted the next weeks to simply avoiding notice and ensuring no one associated his name with the holocron escapades.
