Dorsal Dragons were released on the April 22, 2009, alongside Balloon, Daydream, Pink, Striped, Sunrise, Sunset and Whiptail Dragons. Dorsals are among several dragons in-cave to possess cave born variations. Dorsal dragons have two different colours, red and purple. Purple Dorsals are fairly common, while Red Dorsals are rare. Breeding either colour of dorsal can produce a red or purple Dorsal egg. One can easily see what color a Dorsal dragon will be when looking at the color of the egg.
