This system appears in the Phazon Site of the Dark Agon Wastes during Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. Samus is required to navigate the room, exposed to the atmosphere of Dark Aether, to scan the modules. Each module is in a corner of the room. Samus must scan the locks at close-range; otherwise, local interference will block her Scan Visor. After all Modules have been scanned, the lasers will disappear, allowing Samus to continue to the Watering Hole.

- All Corpus are able to pass through these barriers unharmed. Sometimes, albeit rarely, they may stand in the way of the beams, blocking them so that players may walk past. Special versions have been integrated into Spy 2.0, these also trigger the alarm in the data vault and also have irregular patterns like turning on and off periodically and raising up and down through the floor.
