| - Before his professional debut with the Captain Tsubasa one-shot, Yoichi Takahashi created four manga, all of which, like the Captain Tsubasa one-shot, were sent to Shueisha's contests for new artists. Not much is known about them since none has ever been published commercially and are mostly known through publications and documentaries dedicated to Takahashi's career. The cartoons are:
* Yujo no Eleven (友情のイレブン, yuujou no eleven, translated as The eleven of friendship) (between 1976~1978) - Football. With this 31-page long cartoon Takahashi was recruited by Shueisha after winning a special mention in a Weekly Shonen Jump contest for newcomers while he was in third grade at high school. The protagonist of the story is a goalkeeper like Goru in Golden Kids for which this short comic is the basis.
* Onboro Angels (おんぼろエンゼルス, translated as The shabby angels) (1979) - Baseball. Created while working as an assistant of Shinji Hiramatsu.
* Bancho Keeper (番長キーパー, banchou keeper) (between 1979~1980) - Football. Created while working as an assistant of Hiramatsu. A football story in which the protagonist is a bancho, a leader of a group of juvenile delinquents.
* Akuyu Battery (悪友バッテリー, akuyuu battery, translated as Bad companion battery) (between 1979~1980) - Baseball. Created while working as an assistant of Hiramatsu. In baseball, battery refers collectively to the pitcher and the catcher. There are other series of dojinshi with unknown titles that Takahashi created during his middle school years and which he distributed with his fellow students.
