Perry Miller is a main character in the Emily of New Moon series and the husband of Ilse Burnley.
West Kildonan North Stars from 1970 to 1972, Miller was not drafted by any NHL or WHA team. He signed with the Charlotte Checkers and played two seasons for them, being named to the Southern Hockey League second all-star team in 1973-74. That got the attention of the Winnipeg Jets, then in the World Hockey Association. Miller played three seasons as a regular with the Jets, briefly interrupted by 13 games with the Minnesota Fighting Saints in 1975-76. In the NHL Miller played in 217 games and scored 10 goals and 51 assists. In the WHA he played in 201 games and scored 30 goals and 61 assists.

In October 1975, While playing for the Winnipeg Jets, Miller was high-sticked by Bernie MacNeil of the Cincinnati Stingers, prompting Superstar teammate Bobby Hull to sit out one game to protest the growing level of violence in pro hockey. On 1 February 1977, Miller scored four times in an 11-1 rout over the Edmonton Oilers and set a WHA record for most goals by a defenseman in one game. In 1977 Miller jumped to the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League. He played three full seasons for the Wings as well as spending some time with the Adirondack Red Wings of the American Hockey League. He retired in 1982.
