The Raptor-class Battlecruiser is the largest ship fielded by Lin’La’Se, as well as the only capital ship design in their navy meant expressly to take on other capital ships. Contrary to the common misconception of those outside of Lin’La’Se space, the Raptor-class was not named after the animals that are members of the Dromaeosauridae family, but rather after modern birds of prey, which are also referred to as raptors.

abstract
| - The Raptor-class Battlecruiser is the largest ship fielded by Lin’La’Se, as well as the only capital ship design in their navy meant expressly to take on other capital ships. Contrary to the common misconception of those outside of Lin’La’Se space, the Raptor-class was not named after the animals that are members of the Dromaeosauridae family, but rather after modern birds of prey, which are also referred to as raptors. Since the Linshi don’t have a standing army per say, and thus have no need to worry about making space on their ships for ground machines, they are able to fit in more starfighters and weapons than many other ships of the Raptor’s size. The starfighters, working in conjunction with the numerous heavy turbolasers, capital ship-scale warhead launchers, and robust shields of the Raptor-class, makes taking on one of these vessels a tough prospect for all but the largest of capital ships. These vessels, however, are fairly rare. Numerous factors account for this, not the least of which is the cost and amount of time required to build one. More important than the cost though is the outlook of the Monks themselves. The Linshi are generally not hostile unless provoked. They don’t start fights, but they will end them; the Raptors, therefore, are meant strictly as deterrents against hostile incursions into their territory. The Raptors are, simply put, meant to be ship killers. Since the Linshi prefer to destroy enemy ships in combat instead of asking for their surrender, it has given the Raptor-class a justifiably fierce reputation.
