Lightweight cars use carbon-fiber body panels and aerodynamic design to achieve higher miles per gallon, even though they still use gasoline. The only lightweight car in development is the Toyota 1/X Concept, which gets 90 miles per gallon and weighs less than 1,000 pounds.
