The Chipekwe is a little known cryptid from Central Africa. It is what many believe to have inspired the Kasai Rex legend. It is basically a monitor lizard of staggering size, ranging up to 16 meters long and said to weigh 4 tons or more. It preys on hippos, elephants, and rhino the natives say it is extremely rare, I can see why, and is seldom seen. A expedition a year long was even sent to find the monster but nothing was found. There are said to be pictures of it but they are said to be in poor condition and are probably missing. It is possibly that a creature like this could be responsible for most of the Kasai Rex sightings especially if the dimensions of this creature are correct. One Explorer reported hearing one chewing on the bones of a rhino one night.
