It all started when a Facepuncher called Chezhead rallied other Minecraft players from the same forum to join him on the server to make a ‘Facepunch Republic’ on April 27th, 2011. The short-term goal was just to have a base for the Facepunch community to play on. However, the 4channers took notice of this. A day later, Camp Facepunch, their first base, was destroyed at the battle of Greyskull's stand.

  • It all started when a Facepuncher called Chezhead rallied other Minecraft players from the same forum to join him on the server to make a ‘Facepunch Republic’ on April 27th, 2011. The short-term goal was just to have a base for the Facepunch community to play on. However, the 4channers took notice of this. A day later, Camp Facepunch, their first base, was destroyed at the battle of Greyskull's stand. The Facepunchers realized that 2b2t was not as easy as they thought it was when the Facepunch Castle was greifed by Luke2TheBun, a hacker who was using speed and flying hacks. The Facepunchers continued to make bases, but Chezhead was too naive to realize that the bases were incredibly close to spawn (This was a common occurrence during this period). Chezhead was even stupid enough to show the coordinates to one of his bases on a youtube video in 2011. The Facepunchers attempted to counter attack the 4channers, but were unable to since they took up around 70% of the 2b2t population at the time and were largely disorganized and had no central bases. The Facepunch Republic was also weak in the materials department until the dupe glitch of Beta 1.7.2, in which several members of the Republic duped diamond. However, they continued to be no match for the 4channers due to them being more knowledgeable in the ways of hacking. Eventually, Chezhead himself gave up on the republic and more and more Facepunchers quit 2b2t, and the Republic died in February of 2012. With the Republic gone, the last band of players who continued to be dedicated to the fallen Republic were led by Phagocytic, who eventually moved on to create Zion (2k2k). At Zion, the group hoped to constantly rebuild the base in order for the griefers to give up. However, this was griefed to oblivion by the 4channers and the facepunchers could not keep up with the rebuilding and so they eventually gave up, putting the final nail in the coffin for the old Republic.
