Over the next 3 years Basil was trained everyday by some of the best sword masters and scholars in Britannia. At age 7 Basil was forced to take part in a test of problem solving and intellect along with 15 other male children from the Venatien families. The children were made to challenge a maze of riddles and puzzles, designed to challenge the children's minds to the limits and punish failure to succeed. out of the 15 children only 5 passed, of the other 10: 2 suffered serious head injuries, 4 suffered serious gashes and wounds, 2 suffered broken legs and the remaining 2 managed to escape with only minor injuries. Basil was the only child to escape the maze without any injuries of any kind.
