Reagan was a key advisor to Rockefeller on foreign policy and also took part in repealing several regulations. He often broke with the administration on conservation policy and social policy. In 1976 he was nominated for President, claiming to be more Conservative than the President he served under. However, he was defeated by Ted Kennedy. Upon leaving office, Reagan became a political commentator and hosted his own radio show. He was diagnosed with alzheimers in 1986 and retired in 1991. He died in 2004.
