In 1984, Hitachi Construction Machinery joined into the company with financial and technical assistance. In 2000, the company became a joint venture when Hitachi purchased 20%. In 2010, the company was renamed Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery Company Private Limited as Hitachi became majority owner with 60% share. Telcon is the market leader in the construction equipment industry in India and commands more than 50% market share in India. Equipment is sold under Telcon, TATA and TATA Hitachi brands. The company was renamed Tata Hitachi Construction Machinery.
