Percy Libbis Smout (1892-1960). During the First World War he served in the 1/7th (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment, and was promoted from the ranks, receiving a commission as a second lieutenant in 1918. He was awarded the Military Cross for an action when he was attached to the 2/20th Battalion, and was wounded leading his men. Smout became an incorporated accountant with offices in Bond Street and was a Freeman of the City of London and was Master of the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers in 1944-45. He served as Mayor of Wood Green in 1950-51.
