Kelly's other two races came in 1959, when he competed in the inaugural Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. Starting 32nd in the field of fifty-nine, Kelly had engine issues early in the race and finished 52nd. More engine issues derailed him at Atlanta, but Kelly still managed a career-best 19th place finish.
