Before turning professional he was a member of the Canadian national ice hockey team and participated in the 1969 World Ice Hockey Championships. He played junior hockey for the Toronto Marlboros from 1966 to 1968. He won the Memorial Cup in 1967. In 1968 King joined the Canadian National Team for two seasons. He represented Canada at the 1969 World Championship.

  • Steve King (born September 8, 1948, in Toronto, Ontario) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played 136 games in the World Hockey Association for the Ottawa Nationals and Toronto Toros in 1972-74. Before turning professional he was a member of the Canadian national ice hockey team and participated in the 1969 World Ice Hockey Championships. He played junior hockey for the Toronto Marlboros from 1966 to 1968. He won the Memorial Cup in 1967. In 1968 King joined the Canadian National Team for two seasons. He represented Canada at the 1969 World Championship. In 1970 he turned pro with the Tulsa Oilers. The Ottawa Nationals of the World Hockey Association (WHA) signed him in 1972 and he moved with the team to the Toronto Toros in 1973. In all, he played in 136 WHA games and scored 32 goals and 56 assists. He retired in 1974
