The Islandic Monarch is the monarchical head of state of the United Isles, which is a constitutional and hereditary monarchy within a federal parliamentary system. The Islandic monarchy can trace its line back to the reign of Edward I and the previous petty kingdoms which were united in 1752 to form the United Isles. The present sovereign is King Frederick XIV, who has reigned since 19 January 2006, succeeding his father, Frederick XIII. The heir presumptive is his younger brother, Prince Michael.
