In 1968, Dr. August Durant was infected with a virus which was cured by "The Agency." His dependence on their cure forced him to serve their agenda. To this end, they ordered the assembly of the Secret Six. As the mysterious "Mockingbird," Durant recruited a team of people he had supposedly helped in the past; each was an expert in some field. Durant joined the team as well (the team was aware that Mockingbird was one of their number, but unsure who it was). Their job was to battle various forms of evil that defied ordinary legal procedures. Often the enemies were Communism or organized crime.
