The Imperial Remnant coup d'etat, also called the coup of Bastion, was a coup carried out by Captain Vladimir Makarov's Imperial Nationalists on Bastion, in which he executed most of the Moffs and claimed the title of the Grand Vizier of the Galactic Empire. He was aided by General Vermillion Tarko, an Imperial Army officer. The coup took place days after the Coruscant Spaceport Massacre, carried out by Makarov and his team, in which he massacred civilians and guards, leaving the body of Zane Mytranar, a spy of Jagged Fel. Most of the galaxy thought that Fel was behind the massacre, and thus the coup was supported by most of the Empire. However, the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances later found that it was Makarov, not Fel, and they declared war on the Nationalists days after the coup.
