Augustus Gilbert Colvile (1874-1939) was a solicitor and local politician. Born in Belfast, he was the son Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Frederick Colvile, born in Suffolk and his Chilean born wife, Mary Eliza. By 1901 the family were living in Kensington and he had become a solicitor. He sat as a Municipal Reform Party member of the London County Council representing Kensington South 1913-19: his father had represented the same electoral division on the county council from 1905-07.
