Later announced by Masamitsu Hidaka that the GS Ball stood for Gold/Silver ball and was supposed to contain Celebi and was to follow Ash Ketchum around in the Gold/Silver series, however they decided at the last minute to save Celebi for the Pokémon movie "Pokémon 4Ever", that's why they got rid of the GS Ball and gave it to Kurt to never be seen in the series since.

Es una ball especial que no sirve para capturar a ningún Pokémon, sino para activar el evento que hace que aparezca Celebi en Pokémon Cristal. frame|left|Obtención de la GS Ball en Pokémon Cristal En Japón era posible conseguirla por medio de un teléfono móvil (con el respectivo accesorio que conectaba la Game Boy Color con el teléfono) y teniendo los 250 Pokémon que aparecían en este juego. Para obtenerla, había que descargar un archivo con el teléfono móvil que se transfería mediante el cable especial que se conectaba a la consola Game Boy Color. Después, había que dirigirse al centro Pokémon de Ciudad Trigal (que en la edición japonesa es diferente a los demás centros Pokémon) y, al salir de él, la recepcionista entregaba la GS Ball. Luego se debe ir a Pueblo Azalea a hablar con César, que le dirá al jugador que espere un día para que pueda analizar la GS Ball. Al día siguiente, cuando se vuelva a hablar con él, los árboles del Encinar se estarán moviendo. César comentará que algo extraño pasa en el encinar y que se deberá ir con la GS Ball. Entonces, se debe entrar al bosque y visitar la zona donde se encuentra el altar en honor al guardián del bosque. Al ponerse delante de él y pulsar Botón A, se indicará que hay un hueco en el que la GS Ball encaja perfectamente y te preguntará al jugador si desea colocar la GS Ball en él. Al responder que sí, Celebi llegará volando y desafiará a un combate al entrenador, pudiendo capturarlo como a cualquier otro Pokémon.
