  • The Belarus-class Medium Cruiser is one of the first of the New Republic’s New Class ships to glide out of construction. Originally designed by Loronar as an improvement over their successful Strike Cruiser, the Belarus was rushed into production by the New Republic. The design was implemented by cutting a few corners, primarily by reducing the single turbolaser emplacements, and settling on a single design without modular construction. As such the Belarus lacks the Strike-class Cruiser’s adaptability. While cheaper to construct, the Belarus requires a standard refit to alter.

The resulting medium cruiser is moderately more crew efficient than its predecessor and has increased its left/right broadside firepower by 40 percent, but has no heavy firepower forward and virtually no firepower to the rear. The Belarus is generally deployed in line formation with lighter ships covering the forward and rear of the deployment, or as part of the center section of a progressively heavier line.
