The Commander of LACs, or COLAC, was a senior officer aboard a LAC carrier, in charge of the operations of all the light attack craft assigned to the ship. The COLAC commonly oversaw the LACs from Primary Flight Operations when not in battle. During a battle their place was with the LAC Sqaudrons onboard their own LAC. The COLAC commanded the LACS from his place in the formation because even with the FTL gravitics comms, the distance that LACs operate from their carriers would make the communication lag too great to tactically command in real-time.
