Eep Cheeps are enemies that appear in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They are a golden sub-species of Cheep-Cheeps. They are found in levels of World 1. They are always found in schools. When Mario (or Luigi, Blue Toad or Yellow Toad) swim close to them, they will swim away from them, unlike Cheep-Cheeps, who keep swimming and Deep-Cheeps/Spiny Cheep-Cheeps, who swim after the player. Even though these enemies swim away from players, that does not mean that they will not take damage for touching them! If Mario (or Luigi, Blue Toad, or Yellow Toad) touch an Eep-Cheep, they will take damage or die at small form. The name "Eep-Cheep" is a combination of the species they are based off of (Cheep-Cheeps) and the frightened expression "Eep!". "Eep!" is often used in a short scream when someone is fri

The name "Eep-Cheep" is a combination of the species they are based off of (Cheep-Cheeps) and the frightened expression "Eep!". "Eep!" is often used in a short scream when someone is frightened, which references the behavior of these enemies (swimming away from players) and the way they always swim in packs.
