Trolls are as strong as the stone from which they were made. They are huge and immensely strong, usually about 2 spans tall, but stupid and slow moving, hating other creatures. Trolls are divided into several types, depending on their location. They, like all other sentient non-Elaran species, were the result of magical experimentation by the Valeri mages hundreds of thousands of years ago. Realizing that their creation was not entirely a good thing, but at the same time not wanting to destroy a living thing, the Valeri mages incorporated a "fail-safe" spell into the trolls: they cannot stand the light of day, in fact reverting to the stone of their substance in sunlight. Their bare skin is as thick and protective as hide plate would be, so they often wear nothing more than simple clothing
