  • The Equalizer, also known as the Sword of Neutrality, is a Longsword that strikes as a +3 weapon. Depending on the enemy alignment, it does extra damage and has a higher chance of hitting. The alignment bonuses are the following: * True neutral: +0 to thaco and +0 to damage * Chaotic & lawful neutral: +1 to hit and +2 to damage. * Neutral good & evil: +2 to hit and +4 to damage * Other four alignments: +3 to hit and +6 damage. Also, wielding this longsword grants the wielder immunity from charm and confusion. This weapon can be wielded by characters of all alignments with a strength of 6 or higher; however, it cannot be wielded by clerics, druids, or mages. The Equalizer has a weight of 3 lbs and a speed factor of 3. This item appears in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition. The Equalizer is quite weak against opponents who are of some kind of neutral alignment (and especially awful against True Neutral opponents, against whom it is essentially a normal longsword), but the majority of opponents that you fight in the game are lawful evil or chaotic evil. In addition, the equalizer's bonuses are bugged such that the +damage/THAC0 bonus applies to any other weapon that you may be currently wielding, as well. This means that it is possible to use a weapon such as Belm or Kundane with many attacks in the main hand while wielding the The Equalizer in the off hand, and the extremely fast weapon will still benefit from the bonus damage (which is generally +6).
