Watson has been credited with advancing hockey in Austria. He returned to Canada for a year to win the Allan Cup in 1928. Watson went back to Europe and played and coached in Czechoslovakia (where he played for LTC Prague) and Austria again. He took some time off to coach and play for the University of Manitoba Grads team that won the 1931 World Championship. After several more years in Europe (where he was studying medicine).
