Arnold Ernst Toht was a German Nazi who ganged up with René Emile Belloq and Oberst (colonel) Dietrich to find the Well of Souls and then find the Ark of the Covenant. Toht appeared as the secondary antagonist in the 1981 movie Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. He was played by the British actor Ronald Lacey.

A pesar de que eran varios hombres y habia un incendio Indy consigue arreglárselas para derrotarlos pero es allí donde Toht intenta tomar la pieza pero en vez de eso el metal estaba caliente y recibe una gran quemadura en la palma de su mano dejándole marcada la imagen del objeto, el dolor era tal que este se lanza por la ventana en plena tormenta de nieve. Toht y el resto intentaban trasladar el arca por medio de un camión pero Indy se los impide y se la lleva a El Cairo. Sin embargo consiguen interceptarlos en el mar robándola de nuevo y en pleno ritual dirigido por René, Toht presenciaba el evento, Indy y Marion cierran los ojos ya que los espíritus no deben ser vistos por los ojos humanos, lamentablemente para Toht consigue su muerte pues por mirar al espíritu su cara es terriblemente desfigurada y derretida.
