When he went to Nickelodeon, he played "Pick Boy" a super hero on the famous 2002-2005 weekly Nick show, "U-Pick Live!". After his days with U-Pick Live, he went on to become a producer on My Family's Got Guts in 2008. A year later he went on to host BrainSurge, which he was most famous for hosting until June 2012. In addition, Sutphen hosted the pre-award show The Countdown to Kids’ Choice! for the 2010 Kids' Choice Awards telecast live in Los Angeles.
