| - Eric's family is very poor. In fact, he has grown up being called white trash. Sometimes, referencing his white hair, they'd call him super-white-trash. His parents are drug addicts and his home is barely habitable. He grew up hanging around with Duster, a fellow white-trash kid. Although not part of any gang, they tended to hang out with other white-trash kids who shared a mutual hatred of the society that rejected them.
In Junior High, Eric and Marcie began dating. Marcie Bayern shared enough similarity in her background to understand Eric and Marcie offered Eric hope for maybe getting away from his white-trash background. However, Eric felt a sense of loyalty to his long time friend Duster and so, even though Duster continued to sink further into self-pity and resentment, Eric stayed his friend. Duster found particular delight in picking on Jason Radcliffe. Although Jason was poor as well, having a rich sounding last name like Radcliffe attracted all Duster's wrath against society. Eric went along with it out of loyalty to Duster but felt torn because Eric saw how Jason's last name was the only reason for the hatred Duster felt.
Eric went with Marcie, Julie and Jason to a laboratory because Julie was doing a news story for the school newspaper. While there, a robot exploded and Eric was hit with a strange energy. First, this energy burned his eyes right out of their sockets, permanently blinding Eric. Then, the energy caused Eric to go into convulsions as electricity poured through his body. He lapsed into a coma that lasted a few days.
His recovery from these injuries was very slow. The amount of electricity that coursed through him would have killed several men. But Eric only suffered the burns caused when he was first hit by the strange energy. Testing revealed that this energy had transformed Eric so that he could now generate and control electricity without harm.
Omniteam formed as those who had received powers during the explosion, including Marcie and Jason, allied together. Meanwhile, Duster had joined Biyon's Army which quickly came into conflict with Omniteam. Being caught in the middle with his best friend on one side and his girlfriend on the other, Eric found himself fighting both teams at first before finally deciding to join Omniteam. However, he still has hopes of trying to convince Duster to leave Biyon's Army and join Omniteam as well.
