Chameleon was originally going to be the Maltese entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm performed by Ira Losco, which she had also co-written. It had won the Maltese final in convincing fashion, though only 8 points ahead of its closest rival. Under the rules of the Maltese selection process, broadcaster PBS allowed the right for the winning song to either undergo a revamp or be replaced completely. On 14 March 2016, the decision was made to abandon "Chameleon" and replace it with the song Walk On Water.
