Running along the Ohio River, nearly 75% of the departments population is situated on cities along the important waterway. It borders the departments of Indiana and Ohio. Its largest metropolitan is the the city of New Albany; which is typically paired with the city of Louisville, Kentucky. The Knobstone Escarpment is the regions most prominent feature. Its considered a political outsider from the rest of the country, sporting ideologies that seem socially conservative but prompt policies that could be associated with a social democracy.
