The Mexican Federal Law of Transparency and Access to Public Government Information (Ley Federal de Transparencia y Acceso a la Información Pública Gubernamental or LFTAIFG) was signed by President Vicente Fox on June 10, 2002, and took effect one year later. It guaranteed the public's right to request and receive information from the federal government.
