The Seals became the Cleveland Barons in the summer of 1976 and it was with the Barons that Fidler turned pro in 1976-77, He scored 17 goals in only 46 games that season and then 23 in a full 1977-78 season. When the Barons merged with the Minnesota North Stars in 1978 Fidler joined the Stars and again scored 23 goals in 1978-79. But 1979-80 saw a sharp drop off in his production. A trade to the Hartford Whalers did not help and neither did signing with the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks. Fidler spent most of the latter part of his career in the minor pros and his last active season (1983-84) with Wiener EV in Austria. In international hockey, Mike Fidler represented the United States national team at the 1978 World Championship (where he was the team's top scorer). He was also a member of the U.S. team that participated in the 1983 Pool B tournament. In 271 NHL games, Fidler scored 84 goals and 97 assists. He never played a playoff game in either the NHL nor any pro league.
