| - Jaws 2 was a movie and a sequel to Jaws. Unlike the original, this movie was not directed by Steven Spielberg, but by Jeannot Swarc. It was released on June 16, 1978. In 2015, a VHS edition of Jaws 2 was available for sale at the Blast from the Past antique/memorabilia store. That same year, the latest sequel in the franchise, Jaws 19, was playing at the Holomax Theater in Hill Valley.
- Police Chief Brody must protect the citizens of Amity after a second monstrous shark begins terrorizing the waters, but this time it is difficult for him, because the shark doesn´t appear often and because the politicians in that place turn a blind eye to the eventual problem because of business interests they want to protect. Finally, his children and a group of teenagers are being attacked by the shark and he is alone dealing with it.
- Like Jaws, Jaws 2 was a box office success. Having been made on an estimated budget of $20,000,000, it went on to earn $100,000,000 at movie theaters in the United States. The film was rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America. In 1983 a sequel, Jaws 3-D, was released.
- Like the first film, the production was troubled, resulting in some flaws by critics. Many fans consider this the best sequel in the film line, followed by 1983's Jaws 3D and 1987's Jaws: The Revenge. Jaws 2 remained on Varietys's list of top ten box office hits of all time until the mid-1990s, and was briefly the highest-grossing sequel in history until Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back was released in 1980. The film's tagline, "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...," has become one of the most famous in film history and has been parodied and homaged several times. It is widely regarded as being the best Jaws sequel.
- Jaws 2 is a 1978 horror/thriller film and the first sequel to Steven Spielberg's Jaws (1975), which was based on Peter Benchley's novel of the same name. Directed by Jeannot Szwarc, it stars Roy Scheider as Police Chief Martin Brody, who must deal with another great white shark terrorizing the waters of Amity Island, a fictional seaside resort.
- Like the first film, the production of Jaws 2 was troubled. The original director, John D. Hancock, proved to be unsuitable for an action film and was replaced by Szwarc. Scheider, who only reprised his role to end a contractual issue with Universal, was also unhappy during production and had several heated exchanges with Szwarc.
