Francis Fitzgerald "Frank" Reed (born 19 April 1929) is a former United States Senator and Congressman from Pennsylvania, and was the Democratic nominee for President in the 1988 Presidential election. After retiring from Congress in 1997, he started the Reed Humanitarian Foundation and served briefly as the President of Pennsylvania State University in the late 1990's and early 2000's. Reed was Senator from 1979-1997, and was a Congressman from 1971-1979 for Pennsylvania's 8th District.
