Konggei Metropolitan Government deals with administrative affairs as the capital city of Surea, so it is more centralized than that of most other cities with the city government being responsible for public education, correctional institutions, libraries, public safety, recreational facilities, sanitation, water supply, and welfare services. In the city government, there are 5 offices, 32 bureaus, 107 divisions. The headquarter building is Konggei Metropolitan Government Building located in Shingetsu, Nina, Konggei. The Government started in July 15, 1948 as the Konggei City Government which became Konggei Metropolitan Governement in August 17, 1954. The Konggei Metropolitan Government has one mayor and two vice mayors, one of them take charge of administrative affairs and the other for political affairs. Konggei is subdivided into 20 autonomous chi and 515 administrative bun.
