Nyaidem (Russ. Надым, Finn. Naiden) is a Uralican city in Yamalia, located along Highway UH-10A, along which it is the most populous centre. It was originally founded as Nadym, which remains the Russian name of the city, but before its annexation, the people of the city decided to pay homage to the indigenous Nenets of the area by changing the name to Nyaidem. There are three theorised etymologies for the city name, all Nenets, of which the current name is closer. None of these have yet been confirmed.

* нядэй (njadej) - ridge rich in reindeer moss 2.
* няйдэм (njajdem) - mossy place 3.
* нгэде (ngedje) - dry place where meadow grass grows None of these have yet been confirmed. Nyaidem's main industry was once the oil and gas industry, and while some natural gas still remains, Nyaidem has had to diversify its economy to stay afloat. Its population would bottom out during the Unjust War, but with the discovery of various non-metallic minerals in the area (most notably quartz and borax), the town began growing again. It sits in an area rich in materials used as fluxes.
